WHY PEOPLE WORK
There are a number of things that bring an employee to work each day. Some of these factors can include;
· Pay
· Genuine interest/enjoyment in the work
· Benefit the community
· Develop friendships while working
· For appreciation or acceptance from others (usually the employer)
These all contribute to what brings employees to work each day.
Pay is prominently the most obvious factor behind employee attendance, because if employees don’t show up for work, it may mean they won’t receive pay for that day. Although, it is important to remember that paid employees AREN’T necessarily MOTIVATED employees.
The key to having motivated employees is to create a balance of enjoyment of the work, pay for the work, and appreciation they may get for doing good work.
This can be achieved in a schooling work environment by obviously providing fair and equitable pay, motivating employees using some of the knowledge gathered from the previous tabs and also giving appreciation when a staff member does a good job or praise them if you are getting good feedback from students about the teachers performance.
