INTRINSIC AND EXTRINSIC MOTIVATION
Intrinsic Motivation
Intrinsic motivation is consequent to intangible factors. For example, a teacher who is teaching solely to instil their knowledge on students for their own benefit, is relying on intrinsic motivation. An employer can use an employee’s intrinsic motivations to get the most productivity from the employee and help them achieve his/her career development goals. Extrinsic Motivation
Extrinsic motivation is the opposite. An example would be a teacher only doing their job for the money or profit. Extrinsic motivation results in less productivity because truly motivated employees are the ones who increase productivity. (Examples of Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivation, 2015)
